For Sun LX50 Server Users September 3, 2002,
Volume 55, Issue 1
The markets targeted by the SunTM LX50 server have an important
similarity: They will be large deployments in dense computing
environments. Additionally, the Sun LX50 server is a commodity
hardware product that emphasizes industry standard parts to reduce
system cost. These two factors, low cost hardware and large, dense
computing environments, normally drive customers to require an
unbundled support offering -- a portfolio where they can buy software
support independent of hardware support. Therefore, Sun is offering
SunSpectrumSM Hardware Only (HWON) and SunSpectrumSM Software-Only
(SWON) support contracts for the Sun LX50 server. The key deliverables
of each service are:
SunSpectrum SWON
Business hours phone support, upgradeable to 24 x 7
Customer Defined Priority
SunSpectrum HWON
Next Business Day Onsite Coverage -- Sun will come to the customer's site
and replace a defective part within one business day of Sun's
determination a replacement part is needed.
Subscribers to both programs will have access to the SunSolveSM program
knowledge database on a 24 x 7 basis. New software updates are sent to
SWON subscribers as part of their agreement. SunSpectrum
InfoExpressTM software sends communications that highlight new
features and functionality of the SolarisTM Operating Environment
(Solaris OE) and other Sun software.
