Software Only and Hardware Only SunSpectrum Program Contracts
For Sun LX50 Server Users

The markets targeted by the SunTM LX50 server have an important similarity: They will be large deployments in dense computing environments. Additionally, the Sun LX50 server is a commodity hardware product that emphasizes industry standard parts to reduce system cost. These two factors, low cost hardware and large, dense computing environments, normally drive customers to require an unbundled support offering -- a portfolio where they can buy software support independent of hardware support. Therefore, Sun is offering SunSpectrumSM Hardware Only (HWON) and SunSpectrumSM Software-Only (SWON) support contracts for the Sun LX50 server. The key deliverables of each service are:

SunSpectrum SWON

  • Business hours phone support, upgradeable to 24 x 7
  • Customer Defined Priority

SunSpectrum HWON

  • Next Business Day Onsite Coverage -- Sun will come to the customer's site and replace a defective part within one business day of Sun's determination a replacement part is needed.

Subscribers to both programs will have access to the SunSolveSM program knowledge database on a 24 x 7 basis. New software updates are sent to SWON subscribers as part of their agreement. SunSpectrum InfoExpressTM software sends communications that highlight new features and functionality of the SolarisTM Operating Environment (Solaris OE) and other Sun software. [...read more...]
