The Secured Web Solution is a bundle offering of the SunTM Crypto Accelerator 1000 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption card installed in the Sun FireTM 280R server. Customers will need to install the Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 software, which is shipped in the same box as the Sun Fire 280R server. The SSL security protocol provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity and optional client authentication for a TCP/IP connection.

This bundle provides customers with an affordable, secure and optimized Web environment that is designed to enable customers to handle more simultaneous transactions faster and help to reduce the number of time-outs, resulting in fewer dropped connections.

The Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 SSL encryption card and Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 software are designed to accelerate SSL transactions and to free up the CPU to process other applications and transactions. The Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 SSL encryption card is a coprocessor solution that offloads the authentication and 3DES bulk encryption portions of SSL functionality at a rate of 4000 ops/sec per card; it is also scalable to handle large system SSL authentication loads.

The Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 board is an ideal solution for businesses that need to handle more simultaneous transactions, increase reliability and optimize performance based on authentication loads. The Sun Crypto Accelerator 1000 board enables more cost-effective capacity planning as encrypted network traffic requirements grow.

The Sun Fire 280R server is an enterprise-class, rack-optimized server that can support up to two UltraSPARCR III Cu processors. The Sun Fire 280R server is ideal for network-intensive, compute-intensive, and mission-critical applications. The Sun Fire 280R server can be used with both SunTM ONE Web Server (formerly iPlanetTM Web Server) and the Apache Web Server.

The Sun Fire 280R server is powered by up to two high-performance UltraSPARC III processors and features the RAS capabilities Sun servers are known for, including redundant hot-swap power supplies with independent power cords, hot-plug power subsystems and front-accessible drives.
