Sun unveiled three new programs to meet mutual customers' requirements for designing, implementing and managing mySAP.com e-business platform solutions on the Sun platform. These programs include the SAP Infrastructure Solution Center; a best practices reference program developed using SunSM Sigma initiative methodology; and QUEST, Sun's sizing skills certification process.

The SAP Infrastructure Solution Center is located in Walldorf, Germany, and will serve as a central repository for best practices and bring together expert teams of solution architects and specialists. The center enhances the way Sun engages with customers by providing information and best practices gleaned from building, testing, integrating and improving performance of mySAP.com solutions on the Sun platform. The SAP Infrastructure Solution Center will leverage Sun's global network of iForceSM Ready Centers and iForce Competency Centers, providing customers with a real-world environment in which to build prototype end-to-end solutions.

The SAP Infrastructure Solution Center gives customers one-stop access to shared expertise and will provide leadership across multiple solution areas, including: SAP Reference Architecture, SAP Platform Solutions, SAP Horizontal Solutions and SAP Vertical Industry Solutions. By providing a central base of information, this center will help customers mitigate risk and streamline costs when implementing and operating mySAP.com on the Sun platform.

"Sun is committed to staying ahead of customers' business needs by developing close advisory relationships to help them deploy the right solution for their unique business needs and through tight integration of mySAP.com on the Sun platform," stated Stuart Wells, vice president Market Development, Sun. "The Infrastructure Solution Center methodology is a driving force behind Sun as the go-to trusted advisor and reliable business partner for our SAP customers."

"The flexibility of Sun EnterpriseTM servers allows us to quickly shift more horsepower into specific areas of our business for on-going strategic advantage," stated Dennis Upton, CIO of Brother International, a Sun and SAP customer.

The best practices methodology from Sun and SAP for managing joint customer references is called a "Sun Shot" methodology, a Six Sigma-based project, which enables team members to share lessons learned on previous implementations to speed new customer solution development and deployment and ultimately to help customers quickly achieve a maximum return on investment.

The global QUEST (Quality Using Expertise for SAP Technology) certification process is implemented via the iForce Competency Center for SAP. Sun is one of the first vendors to have an internal sizing qualification process in place that has been reviewed by SAP AG. QUEST certification helps ensure that Sun personnel are highly qualified to provide accurate and consistent sizing guidance to customers in accordance with the rules and recommendations as mandated by SAP AG.

The iForce Competency Center for SAP provides customers with a risk-free environment to size, configure and scale SAP solutions on Sun hardware for their specific solution requirements. Part of a global network of iForce Centers, the center combines the expertise, products and processes to help customers quickly, cost-effectively and correctly configure their highly integrated mySAP.com solutions for the Sun platform, right from the start.
