To provide design and manufacturing customers with high-end
visualization solutions across Sun's range of power-graphics systems at
highly affordable price points, Sun and Opticore have made the Opticore
Opus Realizer 1.4 available on the SolarisTM Operating Environment
(Solaris OE).
With Opticore Opus Realizer software, designers in industries such as
automotive manufacturing, wireless telecommunications and aerospace
engineering can improve design times, increase collaboration and lower
costs. The number of costly physical prototypes that are typically
required during a design process can be reduced. The application can
also expand the number of design iterations available, providing
real-time rendering for design communication, sales and marketing.
computer-based training and Web-based design reviews are also available
with the powerful combination of Opticore software products and Sun
systems.
Opticore Opus Realizer 1.4 will be available on a range of Sun-based
platforms, from workstation-based Personal Visualization Systems to
Sun's new higher-end, server-based Workgroup Visualization Systems.
Both platforms were demonstrated in Sun's booth at the Siggraph 2002
Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
The combination of Opticore's visualization and design/styling
applications with the UltraSPARCR architecture and Solaris OE
provides a proven and mature 64-bit platform alternative for customers
seeking high-quality graphics capabilities at a lower price point.
Sun's delivery of these high-end visualization solutions to the desktop
space allows budget-minded customers to install multiple collaborative
visualization workgroups, while maintaining the quality and performance
of a costly, centralized visualization center.
"Following the industry's quick acceptance of our recently unveiled
Personal Visualization Systems based on the Sun BladeTM 2000 workstation,
the availability of Opticore's powerful Opticore Opus Realizer software
on Sun Blade workstations as well as Sun FireTM servers is an
important addition to Sun's expanding presence in the growing markets
of graphics and visualization," said Robbie Turner, vice president of
Client and Technical Market Products, Sun.
