Sun unveiled the new Sun Fire V480 server, featuring up to four 900 MHz UltraSPARC III processors in a rack-optimized compact design. The system's fast Sun Fireplane interconnect provides 9.6 GB per second throughput. Its 8 MB of CPU cache is more than six times the capacity available on Wintel systems.
