Sun, Oracle and NMS Communications will deliver wireless voice-enabled applications for the recently introduced NMS HearSay, the first open voice-enabled services whole product solution for wireless service providers and enterprises worldwide. NMS HearSay delivers customized voice-driven services such as voice-activated dialing, Personal Information Management (calendar, email, address book), personalized voice portals, short message services, unified messaging, chat and conferencing. It enables subscribers to use voice commands to make service requests. It also provides subscribers with ubiquitous access to critical information, anytime, anywhere, through a customizable, intuitive user interface.

NMS Communications has integrated the wireless functionality of Oracle9i Application Server and the carrier-grade reliability of the Solaris OE (SPARCR Platform Edition) with NMS Hearsay. Both the Oracle9i Application Server and NMS HearSay support the VoiceXML specification to enable easy access to information via voice and the phone.

NMS HearSay is a multi-application carrier-grade system that creates value by reducing the complexity, sales cycles and time to market involved in offering the next wave of revenue-generating value-added services. Based on an open architecture that merges telecom mobility with the content-rich Internet and allows for an easy evolution from circuit-switched to packet-based, IP networks. NMS HearSay delivers:

  • Best-in-class applications that have been fully integrated and tested
  • World-class speech, voice processing and network technologies
  • Support for multiple automatic speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech (TTS) products to enable global coverage and multiple language support
  • Full carrier-grade capacity, reliability and scalability, featuring rack-mounted NEBS Level 3 compliance system based on NetraTM 20 and Netra CT servers, SPARC technology and the Solaris OE
  • Operations and billing integration, and full 24x7 global support including customization, installation and deployment services

"The combination of NMS HearSay, the voice-enabled services of Oracle9i Application Server, and the open, scalable platforms from Sun provide a clear service differentiator to wireless operators," said Brian Demers, vice president and general manager of NMS' Network Solutions business.
