Transition-EOL of Select Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Servers
Options

Select Sun EnterpriseTM 3500-6500 Servers are being transitioned. This marks Phase One of the Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Server product line EOL. The following configurations will be transitioning at this time: all Logoless systems; select Skinless systems; all Danish configurations; all Sun EnterpriseTM 4503-R and Sun EnterpriseTM 4503-RR1 Master Reseller configurations; all Sun EnterpriseTM 4503-RR2 systems; all Sun EnterpriseTM 5503 and Sun EnterpriseTM 6503 Master Reseller configurations; and all ISV and COD configurations.

In addition, select configured options, including certain COD and 336 MHz building blocks, will be transitioning at this time.

Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Server base systems, as well as select Master Reseller configurations, will continue to remain available. Other configured options, as well as standalone x-options, will also remain available. This transition allows for simplification of Sun's product portfolio, without removal of any performance, features or flexibility offered today.

The next large EOL announcement for the Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Server line is scheduled for July 2002, although a few parts will be EOL'd in Q402. Key component x-options will remain available until at least July 2004.

Information on the recommended migration path for transitioning from UltraSPARCR II processor-based Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Server systems, to UltraSPARCR III processor-based systems is available online.

Migration services are available through Sun Enterprise Services, Sun Professional ServicesSM Program and SolarisTM 8 Operating Environment Adoption Services, including:
