General Dynamics C4 Systems selected Sun as Top Strategic Supply Partner for 2001. General Dynamics and Sun will deliver rugged UltraComputingTM Program systems that will meet stringent military specifications for advanced battlefield automation applications.

Together the organizations have collaborated to outfit units of the U.S. military and select foreign militaries with more than 11,000 commercial and ruggedized SPARCR and UltraSPARCR technology-based workstations and servers in a variety of ground, airborne and shipboard applications. The companies are building solutions based on UltraSPARC workstations, servers and storage, JiniTM network technology, and the SunTM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) platform, which includes the SolarisTM Operating Environment, iPlanetTM solutions and JavaTM technologies.

"The Sun team has consistently met or exceeded our performance requirements," said Jerry DeMuro, president, General Dynamics C4 Systems. General Dynamics designs, integrates and supports strategic and tactical battlefield communication systems worldwide. "Our customers enjoy access to technology roadmaps and innovations that are still on the drawing board and in the lab. Additionally, our relationship has helped position us as a competitive team for strategic design assignments and significant new customer opportunities."

"Recognition as a Strategic Supply Chain Partner demonstrates the value we place on the success of our working relationships," said Tom Kreidler, vice president, Government Division, Sun. "Collaborating seamlessly with technology partners like General Dynamics ensures a better experience for our mutual customers who have much bigger things to worry about than whether their IT solution will work.
