Sun's Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Reference Architecture, based on
products from Sun and Sybase Inc., has recently developed the largest
data warehouse on record. This system managed large amounts of data
efficiently, compressing input data to 30 to 80 percent of its original
size.
Sun and the U.S. Army Intelligence Center (USAIC) have created a unique
education program and re-enlistment incentive to provide soldiers who have
marketable technology skills with hands-on experience in network
architectures and Solaris Operating Environment (Solaris OE)
platform-based technologies. The Sun Microsystems/Army System
Administrator Fellows Internship
Program includes IT training and teaching.
Forte for Java 3.0 integrated development environment (IDE) was
named "Best Java IDE" at the JavaWorld Editors' Choice awards ceremony
on March 25th. Vendors, readers and JavaWorld publication authors and editors nominated more
than 200 tools and technologies in ten categories. An eight-judge panel
of JavaWorld publication writers selected one
