General Keynote at JavaOne Conference
James Gosling and Rich Green

The General Keynote at the JavaOne Conference was presented by Rich Green and James Gosling. They discussed the growing use of Java technology, from the Internet, to computers, cell phones and then to thermostats and switches. Breakthrough Java Technology for Consumer Devices
New Virtual Machines

Sun is introducing new Java Virtual Machine (JVM) solutions that exponentially improve the performance of Java technology-based networked devices. The two new JVMs for Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Connected Device Configuration (CDC)/Dynamic Compiler, are expected to deliver a level of performance up to ten times higher than existing virtual machine technologies in a very small footprint. Sun is collaborating with ARM, and Symbian to deliver this technology to consumer devices.
