Volume 49, Issue 3

The JavaOneSM Conference will feature many SunTM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) sessions, pods and promotions. Learn how to leverage Sun ONE for the creation, assembly and deployment of your applications designed for the networked world.

Sun ONE Sessions

Sun ONE Sessions are designed for developers who create, assemble and deploy end-to-end Web services using the JavaTM technology platform. Over 20 sessions are scheduled, including:

  • JavaTM Web Services Developer Pack (WSDP): The Java WSDP includes implementations to manipulate XML via the standard APIs for XML processing, transformation and validation.
  • Implement High Availability for the Java technology platform and the Sun ONE Platform: Today's application servers based on JavaTM 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) are powerful and sophisticated, and many add additional value, such as fail-over and clustering capabilities. This session reviews key capabilities from application server-level clustering and system-level clustering, and explores how both can work together to deliver a total clustering solution to achieve ultra-high availability.
  • Sun ONE Application Deployment with the iPlanetTM Application Server and the ForteTM for JavaTM IDE: This presentation is delivered by Java technology architects from the Sun Professional ServicesSM Program and Java technology Center services.
  • Distributed Identity: Implementing a Decentralized Authentication and Authorization System: Identity is a fundamental and important concept in the development of network applications. Most solutions rely on central authentication and authorization mechanisms that are prone to single point-of-failure issues, such as reliability security. This session presents a distributed approach to identity, describing how authentication and authorization can be decentralized in a lightweight and scalable manner.

Sun ONE Pods

Visit the Sun booth to learn more about Sun ONE. Over 20 pods will be showcased, including:

  • iPlanet Application Server: XML and Java Technology: This booth demonstrates the core of the Sun ONE platform with the new release of the iPlanet Application Server architecture, including J2EE 1.3 platform certification, wireless access and an integrated Forte for Java Software development environment.
  • Sun ONE Platform for Network ID: Trusted Transaction Services: The Sun ONE Platform for Network ID builds on the identity infrastructure provided by products such as iPlanetTM Directory Server to help developers deliver trusted services on demand. This solution links identity to back-end systems enabling organizations and Web services to trust the identity of those with whom they do business online, and the contracts into which they enter.
  • Sun ONE B2B Integration: ebXML Technology Preview: This demonstration highlights a proof-of-concept technology that enables developers, business analysts and ISVs to build and deploy reliable e-commerce applications in much the same way as they would construct a Web site.
