Australian University Announces $5.5M Alliance with Sun, HDS
Over the Next Four Years
The University of Western Sydney (UWS), Australia, has selected the Sun
and Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) alliance for its largest IT project to
date, signing a $5.5 million contract with the two companies over the
next four years. The university is consolidating more than 15 servers
across three computer rooms into two new data centers with a tailored
architecture to meet the existing and emerging e-learning needs of the
institution.

Princeton University Meta Portal Strategy
Using Sun Open Net Environment
Princeton has chosen uPortal, a free, sharable university portal based
on Java technology and developed by the Java in Administration
Special Interest Group (JA-SIG) as the infrastructure for its Desktop
for Department Managers portal, one of several portals under development
by the university.
