Advanced Design System (ADS) 2002 from Agilent Technologies is an
electronic design automation (EDA) software that features advances in
simulation technology and usability for engineers creating radio
frequency (RF) designs. ADS 2002 is tailored for system and circuit
design engineers developing all types of RF designs from discrete
RF/microwave modules to integrated monolithic microwave integrated
circuits (MMIC) for communications and aerospace/defense applications.
Advances in ADS 2002 include:
- Co-simulation with layout components: Bring physical
electro-magnetic (EM) effects into the schematic environment. The
co-simulation feature breaks down the barriers between electrical and
physical analysis domains. This enables designers to incorporate layout
artwork in schematic environments for concurrent analysis of circuit
performance along with critical physical (electro-magnetic) effects.
- A verification model extractor: Extracts system-level verification
models from device-level circuit designs. The extracted models offer
simulation speed improvements up to 10 times faster than earlier ADS
versions for designs with 10 or more active devices.
- New simulation technologies that provide greater levels of
simulation performance: Enhancements include advances in the DC convergence
algorithm, advanced memory utilization for harmonic balance
simulations, faster transient (HF-SPICE) simulation in the only SPICE
simulator created for microwave circuit design, and algorithm advances
to the Krylov HB pre-conditioners. ADS 2002 features a new
Shur-Complement Krylov HB pre-conditioner and a Krylov HB capability
for circuit envelope and oscillator simulations.
These three new capabilities are being offered for the first time in
commercial EDA software. The software also offers a new filter
DesignGuide that synthesizes lumped-element filters for RF/microwave
circuit design using a wizard-like user interface for design
specification, tolerance/sensitivity analysis, auto-simulation and
interactive response tuning.
ADS supports the following operating systems: SolarisTM 7 and 8
Operating Environment (Solaris OE); Microsoft Windows
98/NT 4.0/2000/; HP-UX 10.20 and 11.0; and IBM AIX 4.3.
