The price of the UltraSPARCTM III 750 MHz CPU module has been reduced. This provides expanded functionality and increased performance of the Sun BladeTM 1000 Workstation systems. It can be upgraded from a single to a dual CPU system. The low entry price allows future expandability into a high-end workstation as customer needs grow.

The Sun Blade 1000 Workstation with two 750-MHz CPUs offers very attractive multiprocessor capability. It brings 64-bit multiprocessor performance at an entry-level price, yet is fully expandable to a high-end configuration.

Multiple CPUs allow customers to upgrade as needed without incurring undue cost upfront, unlike some competitors that only offer two CPUs without the option of starting off with only one. Sun Blade 1000 Workstation starts with one CPU of any speed (600/750/900 MHz) and has the rare ability to support a second CPU of any speed. It is possible to mix different CPU speeds in the same box. This allows the customer to upgrade to dual CPU power without replacing the original CPU which make it a cost-effective expansion capability. "
