Sun Awards
At the Sun Supplier Awards Dinner event, Sun praised the performance of
more than 20 key products and services suppliers in supporting Sun's
leadership in worldwide operational efficiency. This year, Micron
Technology achieved the highest honor, the "Supplier of the Year"
award. Other award were received by Fujitsu Component, Ltd., Seagate
Technology, and Benchmark Electronics, Inc.

Sun and Shaw Communications
Build Second Internet Data Center
Shaw Communications, the largest provider of high-speed Internet
service in Canada, has chosen Sun to build a second Internet Data
Center. Sun was the provider of choice for Shaw's first Internet Data
Center, successfully launched in August 2001. Shaw's use of Sun
applications and services is expected to position the company favorably
for anticipated future growth.

Sun Ray 150 Appliances at "Las Vegas Sun"
Smart Card Technology Ensures Newspaper's Security
The "Las Vegas Sun" has replaced the "dumb" terminals in its newsroom with 85
Sun Ray 150 Appliances, which come equipped with support for customized
smart cards, and two Sun Enterprise 420R Servers.
A pair of custom chips was created and embedded in each smart card. One is a
proximity reader for building access and the other activates Sun Ray
sessions. A reporter simply inserts the smart card into any Sun Ray
appliance, and the last session returns to the screen exactly as it was
left.

This is an update to the Solaris 8 10/01 Operating Environment
(Solaris OE). This update release supersedes all previous Solaris 8 OE
releases. Solaris 8 10/01 OE adds key new product features and customer
requested enhancements while maintaining compatibility with previous
releases of Solaris. New features include Energy Star Clustering of Sun
Fire 15K Server nodes, PPP-over-Ethernet for high speed
connections, large memory support, and Sun Enterprise
10000 server (also known as a Starfire Server) Next Generation Dynamic
Reconfiguration.

The WebMail workload simulated 7,200 active users sending and
