The Sun ONE Starter Kit, a set of SunTM Open Net Environment
(Sun ONE) products, technologies, and information for developers and IT
architects is now available. The kit is a starting point to design and
develop services-on-demand solutions based on an open, integratable
platform.
The Sun ONE Starter Kit features open, network-oriented products and
technologies for developing services with right-to-develop versions of
ForteTM for JavaTM 3.0 Community and Enterprise Editions;
iPlanetTM Application Server; iPlanetTM Web Server; iPlanetTM
Portal Server; iPlanetTM Unified Development Server; iPlanetTM
Directory Server; the latest JavaTM 2 Software Development Kit, JavaTM 2
Platform, Standard Edition (J2SETM v.1.3.1) and JavaTM 2 Platform,
Enterprise Edition (J2EETM v.1.3); documentation on and currently
available support for web services standards; links to third-party
products to help develop services on demand; and web-browseable
content, including code samples, demonstrations, tutorials, blueprints,
and white papers.
Developers, IT managers, and others can also obtain the Sun ONE Starter
Kit via the Sun Developer Network and its Developer Essentials CDs. The
CDs, which will be updated on a quarterly basis, will be available free
of charge to attendees at the Services on Demand Summit, Tech Education
Days, Sun ONE roadshow, and JavaOneSM Conference in Japan.
