Datasign Helps Pharmaceutical Giant With Java Technology

Software development firm Datasign AG creates distributed applications and offers a range of IT consulting services to its customers. They have helped pharmaceutical companies validate their IT systems and secure approval from international regulatory bodies, such as the FDA and Switzerland's Interkantonale Kontrollstelle fr Heilmittel (IKS).

When a pharmaceutical giant came to Datasign to develop data entry systems for genomic sample hybridization and a global, automated ordering system to be shared with several factories worldwide, Datasign turned to JavaTM technology and became an early access site for ForteTM for JavaTM.

Datasign developed a global ordering system based on Forte for Java that is automated, located in three countries, and shared by the customer and five different factories. It has a multi-tiered architecture. The application transmits commands from users to robots on factory floors in different company facilities. The robots respond to commands and process orders on the required samples. Forte for Java IDE was also used to create an information-intensive, data-entry application used by research scientists worldwide who analyze genes to develop potential new treatments for diseases.
