Sun and Landmark Graphics Solution for Unocal
UltraSPARC III Platform-based Sun Blade 1000 Workstation

Oil and gas company, Unocal, will use Sun technology to visualize seismic data. Visualization software from Landmark Graphics and Sun BladeTM 1000 workstation with SunTM Expert 3D graphics technology are combined with a flat-screen and single stereoscopic projector running on the SolarisTM 8 Operating Environment (OE). Unocal will use these technologies to help improve departmental-level collaboration and decision-making in oil and gas exploration and production.

The visualization software applications from Landmark have been optimized to take advantage of the 64-bit UltraSPARCTM III-based architecture.

The combination of the Sun and Landmark technologies provides a cost-effective implementation of the theater-style "decisionarium" technology. It allows for increased collaborative decision-making across the company at the workgroup level.
