Sun Grows UNIX Marketshare in Q2
Increase of 5.5 Percent

During the second quarter of calendar year 2001, Sun was the only vendor to grow UNIXR marketshare. According to IDC Q2CY01 Server Tracker report, Sun's total server shipments, including all operating systems, increased 5.5 percent from Q1 to Q2, more than any other top five server vendor. IBM, HP, Compaq, and Dell declined sequentially from the first quarter 2001 to second quarter 2001.

This is the seventeenth consecutive quarter that Sun maintained its leadership in UNIX shipments. Sun was also number one in UNIX server revenue with 35 percent marketshare, topping this category for 10 consecutive quarters.
