The Sun Recovery Assistance web site provides system administrators
with documentation, patches, contact information, and discussion forums
designed to assist customers in the rapid recovery of their computing
environments based on Sun hardware and software products and
solutions.

Sun will grant hardware, including servers and a secure storage system,
to the Open Bioinformatics Foundation, a group of volunteer developers
who create free standards-based tools for life science informatics. The open
standards helps with data exchange in the bioinformatics community and
saves researchers time and costs.
Oil and gas company, Unocal, will use Sun technology to visualize
seismic data. Visualization software from Landmark Graphics and Sun
Blade 1000 workstation with Sun Expert 3D graphics technology
are combined with a flat-screen and single stereoscopic projector
running on the Solaris 8 Operating Environment (OE). Unocal will
use these technologies to help improve departmental-level collaboration
and decision-making in oil and gas exploration and production.
