Linuxcare and Sun services and solutions deliver a single storage platform capable of supporting a multi-platform open systems environment. The multi-platform Sun StorEdgeTM T3 Array offering fulfills a growing need in the storage arena and represents a strategic solution for the Linux community.

To meet the growing demands for storage caused by the Net Effect--the explosive growth of users, volume of data, and type of data--Sun developed the Sun StorEdge T3 Array. Linuxcare provides comprehensive professional services and solutions for the Linux operating environment and open-source technologies.

Sun partnered with Linuxcare to develop a Linux-compatible driver for the Sun StorEdge T3 array. This driver would provide the Linux community with a single storage solution for its multi-platform host platforms. The challenge for Linuxcare was to develop a driver that was not dependent on a certain type of the UNIXR operating system, could be easily modified as a module to assist in working with various SAN devices, and could help provide failover capabilities for maximum redundancy.

Sun and Linuxcare are striving to make the Sun StorEdge T3 array and the multi-platform Linux servers compatible in a SAN environment by testing various configurations using products from some of the top hub and switch vendors with heavily loaded applications such as Oracle 8i, Apache Web server, and Sendmail.
