The Code Red computer virus exploits a vulnerability within Microsoft's Internet Information Web server (IIS). SunTM Chili!Soft ASP and iPlanetTM Web Server allow users to easily run ASP applications without fear of infection. This is a cost-effective alternative for those worried about long-term protection from Code Red and related viruses.

"We're giving people the flexibility to choose the web servers they want and avoid Code Red security risks at the same time," said John Shell, senior product manager at Sun. "All you have to do is switch to iPlanet Web Server or any other non-IIS web server, such as Apache, and you're safe."

By supporting popular scripting languages and web authoring tools, Sun Chili!Soft ASP makes it easy for developers to take advantage of cross-platform portability while leveraging existing skill sets. These languages and tools include VBScript, Microsoft FrontPage, Adobe GoLive!,UltraDev, and Macromedia DreamWeaver. Sun Chili!Soft ASP also provides a bridge to JavaTM technology components for developers familiar with the COM architecture. This is a great solution for developers who want to leverage the SunTM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) architecture to create agile and dynamic web applications.

Sun Chili!Soft ASP is available for the SolarisTM Operating Environment. It is also available for Red Hat, Debian, Slackware, SuSe, Linux-Mandrake, and other versions of Linux, as well as IBM AIX, HP-UX, and Microsoft Windows NT/2000. In addition to support for iPlanet Web Server, Enterprise Edition, Sun Chili!Soft ASP also supports Apache and Zeus web servers. Drivers for all major databases, including Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Informix, and SQL Server, are also included with the product. Sun Chili!Soft ASP software is bundled with the Sun CobaltTM line of appliance servers. [...read more...]
