Solstice OSI, version 9.0 is part of the migration of the TMN product suite (OSI/CMIP/FTAM) to the Solaris 8 64-bit operating environment.

This port is being done to support new Sun hardware like the new UltraSPARC-III-based workstations and servers which only support Solaris 8 in 64-bit kernel mode. Products like Solstice OSI which are implemented as kernel modules must be ported to this 64-bit kernel mode to run on these new machines.

In this release OSI 9.0 will run in 32 and 64-bit kernel on Solaris 8 (SPARC Platform Edition). In other words, Solstice OSI will fully support 32 and 64-bit applications if the kernel is in 64-bit mode, and only 32-bit applications if the kernel is in 32-bit mode.

Solstice OSI 9.0 provides a complete communication platform, connecting Solaris systems to all other OSI systems as well as providing access to OSI networks worldwide.

Solstice OSI provides STREAMS-based OSI software which runs on the Solaris Operating Environment. [...read more...]
