Volume 37, Issue 1

VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1.1 provides easy-to-use, on-line disk and storage management for enterprise customers, including those deploying Storage Area Networks. VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1.1 provides system administrators with the tools to dynamically configure disk storage, perform administrative tasks while the system is active, and analyze disk usage.

VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1.1 maximizes data availability through the implementation of mirroring and RAID 5 techniques, and maximizes system availability by enabling on-line administration of disk subsystems. It enables improved performance through disk striping and RAID 5 features, and provides the support for performance monitoring, load balancing, and on-line administration required to manage large disk configurations.

VERITAS Volume Manager 3.1 will be released in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and French.

New features include co-existence of Alternate Pathing Driver with VERITAS Volume Manager. Beginning with VxVM 3.1.1, DMP will co-exist with Sun's Alternate Pathing solution 2.3.1. An upgrade to this version of VxVM enables DMP if it was disabled earlier.
