Noise-Reducing Kit Available

A "No-Noise Kit" is now available for all Ultra 60 and Ultra 30 workstations. The kit lowers the system's fan speeds as temperature allows, thus reducing system noise. It is intended to be installed by Sun customers and field service personnel as a retrofit.

This $40 product enhancement consists of circuitry which incorporates a thermal sensor to monitor temperature within the Ultra 60 and Ultra 30 system. At low temperatures, it decreases the voltage to the fans so that they operate at a lower speed, reducing noise.
