Enterprise Power Express Server Packages
3500, 4500, 5500, and 6500

Pre-configured Sun Enterprise 3500, 4500, 5500, and 6500 Server packages are now available from Sun. These pre-configured Power Express Server Packages include CPUs, memory, system boards, and redundant power. All Power Express systems are priced lower than the sum of the individual component prices. The Sun Enterprise 3500 system also includes internal fibre-channel arbitrated-loop (FC-AL) disk drives, which are configured for redundancy, and the appropriate FC-AL connections. The Sun Enterprise 4500-6500 servers are configured with redundant I/O boards.

All Power Express Server Packages ship within reduced leadtimes. They are expected to ship from the Sun product distribution center (PDC) within 3 days of receipt of a clean sales order (no holds). No additional components may be factory-configured with the Power Express Server Packages.

Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Factory-Configurable Server Packages

The same system configurations described above are also available as configurable system packages that can be ordered with additional factory-configured components. These Factory-Configurable Server Packages are subject to standard server leadtimes and have unique part numbers to distinguish them from Power Express systems. These system packages are easy to order and are priced below the sum of the component prices.

Power Express System Building Blocks

The Power Express System Building Blocks consist of Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 CPU/Memory Boards configured with CPUs and memory that are are priced below the sum of the component prices. Like the Power Express Server Packages, these Power Express System Building Blocks are expected to ship from the Sun PDC within 3 days of receipt of a clean sales order. No configuration changes may be made to the Power Express System Building Blocks.

Factory-Configured System Building Blocks

The above-outlined building blocks are also available as factory-configured options for the new Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Factory-Configurable Server Packages mentioned above, and the New Sun E3500-6500 Base Packages mentioned below. These CPU/Memory Boards configured with CPUs and memory are priced below the sum of the components. They are intended to simplify the ordering of system configurations with enhanced performance and availability. Note: A minimum of one 4-CPU or two 2-CPU building blocks per system is required when ordering one of the New Sun Enterprise 4500-6500 server Base Packages described below. The Power Express Server Packages may not be factory-configured with Factory-Configured System Building Blocks.

New Sun Enterprise 3500-6500 Base Packages

Sun Enterprise 3500, 4500, 5500, and 6500 base packages are 3500, 4500, 5500, and 6500 base packages. These new base packages are identical to the existing base packages with the following exceptions: the new Sun Enterprise 3500 base package includes one SBus I/O board, 1-GB of memory and one additional Power/Cooling Module (for a total of two); the new Sun Enterprise 4500-6500 base packages each include two SBus I/O boards. These new base packages must be configured with Factory-Configured System Building Blocks and are subject to standard server leadtimes. At least 4 CPUs must be configured into each Sun Enterprise 4500-6500 New Base Package. "
