Sun and Found.com have a strategic agreement intended to bring about radical change in the way consumers acquire products and services from traditional retailers, manufacturers and brands over the Internet.

Found.com has made a major commitment to utilize Sun's server, storage and software technologies, including Java, Solaris and iPlanet software, to continue to build out its internal infrastructure and retail partner network. In addition, Sun has made a significant investment in ensuring the company's success through joint sales, marketing and other strategic initiatives.

Found.com offers an innovative solution that utilizes the Internet to leverage the traditional brick-and-mortar assets of retailers, manufacturers, and brands. Utilizing Found.com's underlying technology, companies can enhance their existing e-commerce sites with functionality that allow customers to search for products at a physical retail store in a specific geography, verify real-time availability of product at a specific retail location, and purchase the product online at the store level for fulfillment.

Found.com has initially acquired over $20 million of Sun equipment to continue to build out its back-end infrastructure. This infrastructure includes Sun Enterprise servers, including Sun E10000 servers, Sun StorEdge disk arrays, and Solaris.

All traditional retailers, manufacturers and brands who partner with Found.com will install Sun Netra servers at each physical store location. The Sun Netra server line is designed to be NEBS compliant, giving businesses the assurance that these systems have the ruggedness to stand up to potentially less-than-ideal store conditions.
