Cogent Systems, Inc. has ported its advanced Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) system to the Sun Solaris Operating Environment. AFIS, designed for U.S. and International government organizations and law enforcement agencies, incorporates advanced fingerprint matching technologies including palm print, live scan and other mobile and remote standard components.

AFIS, which has been proven to be one of the most accurate and sophisticated in the industry, coupled with Solaris, will equip government law enforcement agencies with the capabilities necessary to streamline their criminal justice operations. For example, using a web-enabled mobile print capturing device, law enforcement officials can quickly transmit encrypted fingerprints of suspected criminals over the Internet and match them against local and state fingerprint databases.

Based on industry standards and developed for UNIX workstations, the Cogent AFIS software suite enables a customizable solution for U.S. and International government organizations. Cogent's Live ID technology provides an unparalleled solution for government agencies that rely on background checks in the decision making process. "
