Another Oracle OpenWorld announcement involved the Oracle Network Applications Platform, its first industry-specific engineered system, designed to meet the extreme network workload requirements for the development and deployment of mission-critical communications services and applications. Oracle Network Applications Platform is an out-of-the-box, application-ready engineered system combining Oracle’s Sun Netra 6000, Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage 7320, Oracle Linux, Oracle VM, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Communications Service Availability (OCSA) and Oracle Clusterware software technologies. The solution is rated at seven 9s (99.99999%) for service availability and enterprise-grade clustering and features complete lifecycle management, command line interface and graphical user interface console options, automated installation, configuration management, telecom presentation and interfaces, supporting complete end-to-end system management to reduce time-to-market. The core building blocks of the platform can be supplemented and extended to add critical functionality and application support by either integrating additional Oracle or third-party software, creating a future-proof solution. Oracle Network Application Platform also features built-in tools for application assembly.
