In Tomas Ulin's interview with Monica Kumar at MySQL Innovation Day, the Oracle President of MySQL Engineering announced the forthcoming MySQL Connect scheduled for September 29-30 in San Francisco, where he said MySQL engineers will be presenting new MySQL features as well offering previews of upcoming enhancements. Presentations from Innovation Day, he said, are already available for download while some of the session videos will soon be made available on the MySQL Innovation Day web page. Attendees at Innovation Day, Ulin continued, were very enthusiastic about the new early access features in MySQL 5.6 and MySQL Cluster 7.3. Responding to Kumar's question about the differences between Oracle Database and MySQL, Ulin explained that MySQL is a great choice for enterprise web-based, custom and embedded apps. Oracle Database is the leading choice for enterprise packaged applications such as ERP, CRM, and high-end data warehousing and business intelligence applications. Ulin also reviewed in brief the changes to be found in the MySQL 5.6 Development Milestone Release and early access features for MySQL Cluster 7.3, providing links to download sites for both solutions.
