Council Agrees to Govern by Consensus; not to Term-limit Council Members May 18, 2012,
Volume 171, Issue 3
Proceedings of the May 16, 2012 meeting of the Illumos Develops' Council, held at the Joyent offices in San Francisco, are available through a downloadable recording. Major decisions arrived at during the meeting include the decision to seek consensus agreement on issues and, in the absence of consensus, to rely on simple majority vote; the council adopted the RTI process drafted by Bryan Cantrill, which is available here. The council also decided to table the draft vision statement for future discussion and not to term-limit membership on the council but instead to conduct regular polls of the council to determine willingness of individual members to continue. Finally, Dan McDonald was added to the Advocates membership. Community Manager Deirdré Straughan has created a Who's Who in illumos on the wiki.
