Oracle Ceases Support for Commercial Open Office

Oracle has announced that will become a purely community-based open source project. In addition, Oracle will no longer offer its commercial version of Open Office. Edward Screven, Oracle's Chief Corporate Architect, explained that, "We intend to begin working immediately with community members to further the continued success of Open Office. Oracle will continue to strongly support the adoption of open standards-based document formats, such as the Open Document Format (ODF)." Oracle will continue its focus on Linux and MySQL, which have found wide favor among its customer base.
