Televisa, the largest media company in the Spanish-speaking world, implemented Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage Appliance to maximize its high-definition, live television of the 2010 World Cup games in South Africa. Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage Appliance enabled Televisa to accelerate video access times by up to 30 percent, transmitting images quickly and on time, as needed by various World Cup-related programs. Televisa was able to store and distribute video of the World Cup’s 64 matches, provide online content to six daily television programs, and optimize broadcasts with high online availability and faultless operation. The media company also used the system to connect several final-cut editing stations. Able to store all World Cup images on a single server, Televisa improved online security and lowered IT costs by 20 percent. Elias Rodriguez Perales, Director General of Operations for Televisa, said, "Oracle’s Sun ZFS Storage Appliance exceeded our expectations. That’s why we’ve decided to continue to leverage it after the World Cup in South Africa as we turned our focus to producing Noticieros Televisa."
