Keeping track of IT hardware assets has become a simpler task, thanks to the second generation RFID tags that Oracle now includes on each of its hardware products. The white paper "How to Track Your Oracle Sun System Assets by Using RFID" explains the workings of RFID technology, citing the contest for which Oracle's RFID tags were developed and noting the standards they adhere to, with examples of how users can leverage them to augment existing IT asset lifecycle management. The white paper points out that using RFID reduces the time and expense of tracking IT assets, thereby easing compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements. In addition, RFID also enables more accurate tracking of asset movement within the enterprise, ensuring against loss.
