The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) or the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999, as it is sometimes known, formalizes safeguards to protect the information required of individuals by the financial services institutions they patronize. The Oracle white paper "Safeguarding Financial Privacy" provides an overview of the GLBA, focusing on its Safeguards Rule and its effect on the agreements entered into between financial institutions and the service providers and other institutions they deal with.
