Extreme Green Computing
Video Interview on Sun Ray 3 & 3i with Michael Dann
If your company's IT infrastructure energy costs could benefit from a 900KW savings, then you might consider the additional points Oracle's Michael Dann makes in a 16:31 video on the new Sun Ray 3 and Sun Ray 3i in which he also notes the product's longevity (upwards of 20 years); the ability to recycle the Sun Ray itself; and the fact that even the packaging for the Sun Ray is made of largely 90% post-consumer waste, which in turn, users can recycle. This is computing that is really, truly in the realm of green.

Timothy Prickett Morgan Says Oracle is Back in the UNIX Game
With SPARC T3 servers
Timothy Prickett Morgan recently posted an article in "The Register" stating, "Oracle has slashed prices and boosted performance to show IBM and HP that it is indeed back in the Unix game."

He says that two of the four new T-3 servers are now shipping and they are being offered in the Oracle online store and they offer "substantially better bang for the buck than their SPARC T2 and T2+ predecessors."

To show the relative improvement in bang for the buck of the T3 machines, Timothy has built a comparison table which shows the chips, cores, clocks, memory configuration, and a metric he calls Relative Ooomph. That table shows that the T3 servers offer much better price performance than the T5120, T5220, and T5420 machines they replace in the T Series server lineup.
