How to Back Port Solaris 10

The Solaris 10 Failsafe feature can be easily back ported to Solaris 9 as well as earlier versions. This feature was first introduced in Solaris 10 10/08 OS or Update 6. It is a "lofi" UFS image file and it's a pure Solaris instance in RAM when it's booted. It is useful especially for boot disk firmware upgrade, system recovery, and decommission. A tech tip by Ken Zheng shares a procedure to backport Solaris 10 to earlier Solaris versions, including Solaris 8.

Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Certified on Solaris 10

Oracle Database 11g Release 2 version 11.2.0.1 is now certified with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (11.5.10.2) and Release 12 (12.0, 12.1) on Solaris 10 on SPARC (64-bit). According to Steven Chan, this announcement includes: Oracle Database 11gR2 version 11.2.0.1; Real Application Clusters (RAC); Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) Column Encryption; Advanced Security Option (ASO) / Advanced Networking Option (ANO); and Export/Import Process for E-Business Suite 11i Database Instances.

  • 2. Add resource control if you want.
  • 3. Install the zone.
  • 4. Boot the zone.

patchanalysis_gather script
