Oracle's Cloud Computing Forum
Learn the What, Why, and How of Cloud Computing
February 18, 2010,
Volume 144, Issue 3

Oracle's Cloud Computing Forum is designed to clarify how organizations can take advantage of enterprise cloud computing.

Oracle's Cloud Computing Forum will kick-off its North American leg of the tour on Feb. 23, in L.A., while simultaneously continuing its Europe, Middle East, and Africa tour and Asia Pacific tour on the topic with events in London, Munich, and Seoul on the same day. The event stands in contrast to CEO Larry Ellison's well-publicized mocking of cloud computing, which he has deemed a rebranding and conflation of existing technologies.

However, it's not as if the ongoing tour wasn't telegraphed, points out Chris Kanaracus with IDG News Service. During a recent webcast on how the company plans to use the assets it gained from the purchase of Sun Microsystems, executives indicated Oracle's main focus will be on helping customers build private clouds.

Oracle's Cloud Computing Forum is designed to clarify how organizations can take advantage of enterprise cloud computing. It promises to teach attendees:

  • How IT can become a private cloud service provider for users
  • How to evolve existing enterprise architectures to a cloud model
  • How to leverage public clouds from providers like Amazon Web Services
