New listings of Sun Learning Services instructor-led and live virtual class were recently noted. These classes cover topics on:

Developing Web Applications Using JSF Technolgies SL-340-EE6

The JavaServer Faces (JSF) technology is a server side user interface component framework for building Java technology-based web applications. Included in Java EE 6, the JSF 2.0 standard further simplifies the web application development. This course provides an in-depth introduction to the JSF technology. Students perform the course lab exercises using the NetBeans IDE and the GlassFish Application Server v3. This course supports Sun Certified JSF Developer.

Virtualization and Cloud Computing Concepts - Seminar VC-SEM-VM-260

This one-day seminar provides an overview of cloud computing, cloud architecture, and the virtualization technologies that enable the implementation of data applications in a cloud computing environment. The course also describes the benefits of using cloud technologies, such as increased agility and reduced capital expenditures, as well as issues to consider before transitioning to the cloud. The course features technology samples and demonstrations of a virtual datacenter, virtual machine images, virtual peripheral devices for persistence, and virtual storage appliances. Within a cloud environment, application components are installed and configured, and a Web 2.0 database application is deployed.

Free: Solaris 10 Patching Best Practices (WS-2700-S10)

The Solaris 10 Patching Best Practices course provides system administrators with a set of best practices that, when followed, make Solaris 10 patch management less complex. The course opens with an overview of Solaris 10 patching and Sun Microsystems recommended best practices for patching SPARC- and x86-based systems. The course focuses on using Solaris Live Upgrade as one of the recommended best practices and presents several modules that demonstrate how to use Solaris Live Upgrade to create, upgrade, apply packages and patches, activate, and maintain an alternate boot environment. The course concludes with an introduction to Deferred Activation Patching and the Solaris 10 kernel patch. Sun Ops Center Administration (VM-440)

Tailored for system administrators, IT architects, and Data center architects, this Sun Ops Center Administration course provides the practical experience you need to successfully deploy and administer Sun Ops Center in your data center. The course also describes underlying technologies and best practices for deployment. Sun Ops Center offers a comprehensive management solution for physical and virtual system resources. This enterprise-class solution simplifies resource discovery and monitoring, provides operating system and firmware provisioning, performs comprehensive update and patch management, manages virtual environments such as Solaris Containers and Logical Domains, and supports hardware management from power up to production. Using Sun Ops Center will enable you to manage thousands of systems simultaneously.
