Get support for the latest version of selected Veritas Storage Foundation software components with Solaris Cluster. Veritas Volume Manager and File System, part of Veritas Storage Foundation 5.1, are now supported on SPARC and X64 platforms with Solaris Cluster 3.2 11/09 and 3.2 1/09. Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) 5.1 Cluster Functionality (CVM) is supported on SPARC only.
Solaris Cluster provides high availability and global disaster recovery to suit the evolving needs of datacenters. System requirements for Solaris Cluster on every cluster node are:
- Minimum of 512 MB of physical RAM (2GB typical)
- Minimum of 6GB of available hard drive space
Supported operating systems:
- SPARC platforms: Solaris 9 9/05 HW, Solaris 10 5/09, 10/09
- x64 platforms: Solaris 10 5/09, 10/09 (note x64 platforms are not supported with VxVM CVM
In regards to licensing, if VxVM is used for shared volumes with Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), one VxVM CVM license is required per RAC node. (A node is a Solaris image. A node is the same as a physical domain, or a server if there is no physical domain on which CVM is deployed).
