enables developers to take advantage of the latest Java EE 6 language features and allows them to easily target and deploy to GlassFish v3

To help developers get the most out of Java EE 6 and GlassFish v3, the NetBeans IDE 6.8 is the first IDE to provide complete support for the Java EE 6 specification, including support for JSF 2.0 (Facelets), EJB 3.1, and GlassFish v3. This latest version of the integrated development environment also upgrades its support of dynamic languages with PHP 5.3 support and support for the Symfony framework, along with new improvements and features in several other areas.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Complete Java EE 6 Support

Wizards, code folding, and several improvements to the editor and IDE support Java EE 6 improvements. The Java EE 6 language features simplify Java application development: less XML configuration, more annotations and more POJO-like development.

GlassFish v3 Support

Developers can easily target and deploy to GlassFish v3. Now developers can deploy and run applications in the new lightweight GlassFish v3 Web Profile.

PHP Support

The NetBeans IDE expands its support of dynamic languages with PHP 5.3 support and support for the Symfony framework. This feature speeds up the development of PHP web applications with the NetBeans IDE.

Kenai Improvements

Integration with Project Kenai, a collaborative environment for hosting open-source projects, now offers full support for JIRA and improved instant messenger and issue tracker integration. Developers can use JIRA on open-source projects, and chat with project members while working on projects.

C/C++ Profiling

Profile and tune C/C++ applications with the new Thread Microstates Monitor, I/O Usage monitor and improvements to C/C++ profiling.

JavaFX support

Get improved code completion, hints and navigation for JavaFX in the NetBeans editor for development of JavaFX applications with support of the IDE

The NetBeans Platform

Provides an application framework for Swing applications, including menu items, toolbar items, keyboard shortcuts, window management, etc., saving time and work.
