practice using technologies like VirtualBox, software quorum, Solaris Container Clusters, Crossbow, IPsec and COMSTAR iSCSI
Learn how to set up a single x86-based system with OpenSolaris, configuring a training and development environment for Solaris 10/Solaris Cluster 3.2 and using VirtualBox to establish a two node cluster. These instructions can be found in the white paper "Practicing Solaris Cluster using VirtualBox" by Thorsten Frueauf. The presented configuration can be used to practice using various technologies such as Crossbow, COMSTAR, ZFS, IPsec, software quorum, and zone clusters.
The example host system used is a Toshiba Tecra M10 Laptop with these hardware specifications: 4 GB main memory, Intel Core 2 Duo P8400@2.26Ghz, 160 GB SATA hard disk, 1 physical network nic (1000 Mbit) – e1000g0, and 1 wireless network nic (54 Mbit) – iwh0. Frueauf advises that the system should at least have a minimum of 3GB of main memory in order to host two VirtualBox OpenSolaris guest systems. OpenSolaris 2009.06 build 111 is installed on the laptop.

The information contained in this 42-page document can be used as a step-by-step guide to setup any x86 based system that is capable to run OpenSolaris, Frueauf advises.
