Sun Directory Server Enterprise Edition (DSEE) 7.0 improves performance by more than three times when compared to its predecessor, Sun reports, and improves authentication and modification performance by 60 percent, allowing customers to accelerate their applications without changing one line of code.
Features and Benefits
Optimization in internal data and parallelized import.
- With these changes larger deployments can be supported on same hardware resulting in more efficient configurations, accelerating applications without changing a line of code, effectively reduced total cost of ownership.
Upgrade In-Place, Console and CLI can manage booth DSEE 6 and DSEE 7 instances.
- Upgrade 6.3 versions of the Sun Directory Server to DSEE 7.0 in place without having to export or import your data. Use installer and upgrade tools to upgrade software and minimum cost and complexity associated with upgrade.
Entry Compression
- Entry can be compressed without impacting performances. Less disk space usage and more efficient data transfer rate between disk and memory subsystems.
Copyless restoration
- Backup can be brought inline instantly, without extra time required to copy files. Helps speedup recovery time for large restorations.
Advanced tuning capability
- AllIds and Index monitoring information are now provided. Servers can now be tuned further to accommodate application requirements
Ipv6 supported on all Operating Systems
- Ipv6 is now supported on all platforms, including Windows, for more deployment flexibility.
Directory Server Control Center now supported on WebLogic and Sun Web Server
- Increasing number of deployment options for the console and more flexibility in deployments.
Optimized entry aggregation for virtual directory capability in Directory Proxy Server
- This feature provides more efficient virtual directory capabilities by avoiding unnecessary queries to secondary data view, making searches to secondary data view when appropriate, grouping requests to secondary source and improving handling of large results sets if not necessary result in optimization for virtual directory.
For Virtual Directory, JDBC data view support BLOB and date formats
- More data types are supported through JDBC for Virtual Directory so more use cases are supported.
Proxy traffic classification based on LDAP group membership
- Optimization and fine tuning in traffic routed by Directory Proxy Server
Ability to limit number of operations via Directory Proxy Server
- This improves traffic load management by providing the ability to tune service handling to insure appropriate Service Level Agreement for Directory Service
Improved support for regular expression based distribution in Directory Proxy Server
- For more flexibility in distributing data across multiple back-end, resulting in flexibility improvements for large deployments.
