The BigAdmin paper "Running SAP ERP 6.0 With Oracle Database on the Sun Storage 7210 Unified Storage System" by Ulrich Conrad (login or registration required) describes the steps to implement an SAP ERP 6.0 application on Solaris 10 for x64 platforms with Oracle as the database platform and volumes on this Sun OpenStorage system that are mounted via NFS.
In his research, Conrad used a Sun Fire X4200 M2 Server with 22 AMD Opteron 252 processors @ 2.59 GHz and 8 Gbyte RAM. Software was the Solaris 10 5/08 Operating System and the Sun Storage 7210 Unified Storage System employed 2X AMD 64 Opteron quad-core CPU @ 2.14 GHz with 32 Gbyte RAM, Sun Storage 7000 Series software update version 2008.10; a single ZFS storage pool with a mirrored capacity of 4.6 Tbyte, which was created from 42X 250-Gbyte SATA disks on the appliance and a single 17-Gbyte SSD drive used as the Logzilla device of the NAS appliance. Conrad writes that he deliberately chose a simple file system layout to keep the environment small, which might not satisfy requirements regarding data protection for production systems.
The contents of Conrad's paper include a section on preparing the server and the 7210 Unified Storage System, including both software and the server itself. He later discusses installation of the SAP ERP SR3 Software, including setting up the environment for the installation and outlining the appropriate sequence of steps. The text is illustrated throughout with abundant screen shots.
