Two New PTO Options for Sun Fire X4540 with Six-Core AMD Opteron Processor

Sun Fire X4540 server is a mid-level, modular, rack-optimized server in the Sun x64 product family.
 

There are two new PTO options for Sun Fire X4540 with six-core AMD Opteron Processor 2435. The two new PTOs offer either two AMD Opteron 2435 CPUs, 32 GB memory and 24 TB of storage or two 2435 CPUs, 32 GB memory and 48 TB of storage. The desired system will be preinstalled with Solaris 10 Update 7 OS.

The new CPU Opteron 2435 processor has six cores in each CPU as compared to the quad core CPU. This gives users higher throughput I/O and better data throughput rate for each CPU.

AMD Opteron Processor 2435 features:

  • 6 cores
  • 2.6 Ghz clock speed
  • 9MB L2+L3 cache
  • HT3 HyperTransport technology
  • 57.6 GB/s HyperTransport peak bandwidth (per socket)
  • 75W ACP
  • 800Mhz DDR2 of maximum memory support
  • 1207 socket type
  • AMD-V support

The Sun Fire X4540 server is a mid-level, modular, rack-optimized server in the Sun x64 product family. The Sun Fire X4540 server includes an extensive set of reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) features, such as hot-pluggable and redundant hard disk drives (when RAID 1 is used), and hot-swappable fans, and power supplies. The servers also provide an integrated lights out management (ILOM) service processor function that includes remote boot and remote software upgrades. Its key specifications:

  • 4RU size
  • Two Six-Core AMD Opteron processors
  • 64GB memory maximum
  • Up to 48 hot-swappable 3.5" SATA II disks
  • SW RAID enabled by RAID-Z in Solaris ZFS
