Tape Library on Logical Domains on a Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240

See what is required to run Logical Domains (LDoms) on a Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 and use tape device. On the blog "Women and Technology," the writer explains that in order to use tape device like robot and drives, IO domain with split-pcie bus is required, of which the T5240 has 2 pcie bus. Configuration of LDoms on the T5240 is presented and a short configuration for ldom. "Tape device runs well on io domain as we expected," she concludes.

Sun SSD Server Platform Bandwidth and IOPS (Speeds & Feeds)

Another BestPerf blog entry reports on the Sun SSD server platform's IOPS on Sun Fire X4450, X4140/X4440 and Sun SPARC Enterprise T5240 servers running Solaris 10. The Sun SSD (32 GB SATA 2.5" SSD) is the first enterprise-quality, open-standard Flash design. Built to an industry-standard JEDEC form factor, the module is being made available to developers and the OpenSolaris Storage community to foster Flash innovation. The testers also show IOPS results on Microsoft Windows 2003 on Sun Fire X4140 and X4440. Measurements were taken on various IO performance metrics using Vdbench 5.0.

Memcached on Sun X2270

Senior Staff Engineer in the Performance & Applications Engineering Group (PAE) Shanti posted results of memcached on Sun's X2270.
