Customers now have a choice between 2 or 4.2 TB raw capacity configurations with the Sun Storage 7110 System. The 4.2 TB is the latest configuration for this Unified Storage System. The configuration consists of 14 data drives, 300GB 10K-rpm SAS drives and is available as a PTO or ATO option.

The 2 TB configuration uses 14x 146GB 10K-rpm SAS drives.

Starting price for the Sun Storage 7110 is $10,995. No additional software licenses are required. This server uses the same software as the high-end configurations. With the Sun Storage 7110 system, customers can acquire easy-to-use enterprise data management functionality at entry level costs.

All of the Sun Unified Storage Systems also offer economic value by reducing energy consumption and datacenter space requirements. The 7110 comes in a 2U form factor. Energy efficiency is improved through the use of 7200 RPM drives and SSD, both of which require significantly less power to operate than 15K RPM drives.
