New Options Introduced for Some Netra Servers
Can Double Storage Capacity, Provide Higher Performance

Sun Netra means more choices in processors, form factors, and operating systems than any other carrier-grade offering.

Some Netra servers have a few new options to offer to customers. The Netra T2000, X4200 M2, X4250, X4450, T5220 and T5440 servers now support the new 300GB 10Krpm 2.5" SAS NEBS drive, offering double the storage capacity. Additionally, the Netra T5440 server has a new X-Assemble to Order (ATO) selection for 1.4GHz, giving customers the option for higher performance with this server.

The 300GB 10Krpm 2.5" SAS NEBS Drive option provides a higher disk capacity, thus doubling the storage capacity for these Netra servers. Sun only plans to offer the 300GB drive as an x-option or XATO option. At a future date the company will evaluate the possibility of adding the drive to certain Netra server standard configurations.

The 1.4GHz VF processor ATO option means the choice of a faster processor speed. Customers can choose between a 1.2GHz and 1.4GHz processor via ATO. The 1.4Ghz will increase performance of the Netra T5440. Sun says that this option could also be integrated into a standard configuration but there are no plans to do that at this time.

The company also has a new 146GB 10Krpm 2.5" SAS NEBS drive that is available as a replacement to the current 146GB NEBS drive that did reach its end of life on April 28,2009.
