Sun Cooling Door 5200 is an energy efficient chilled water cooling system for Sun Blade 6048 modular system. The Sun Cooling Door 5200 has a 100% passive design (no fans or electricity required), and is much more efficient than traditional cooling systems.

The Sun Cooling Door Systems - Sun Cooling Door 5200 and Sun Cooling Door 5600 - attach to the back of Sun Blade modular systems, removing heat right at the source with a choice of using either chilled water or refrigerants.

The Sun Cooling Door 5200 is a rear door heat exchanger. Its features include:

  • Removal of up to 100% of the heat generated by the Sun Blade 6048 modular system

  • Can leverage existing data center infrastructure

  • Adds only 6.3 inches to chassis, minimizing data center footprint

  • Up to 35 kW of cooling capacity per door (compare to 5 kW with traditional raised floor cooling)

  • Quieter and more reliable than traditional cooling systems

  • Designed for easy access to systems inside the cabinet

Mounting on the rear of the Sun Blade 6048 modular system, Sun Cooling Door 5200 eliminates the need to recirculate air throughout the datacenter into air-conditioning units, or the need to recirculate air to in-row or overhead cooling systems. As a passive system, it simply leverages the air movement generated by the Sun Blade 6048 chassis fans so there are no electrical fans. This makes it more energy efficient, reliable and quieter than traditional cooling modules.

The chilled water-based coolant requires only that an existing data center have chilled water available. This means water at a temperature above the air dew point, otherwise condensation of humidity will occur. Such considerations should be taken into account when designing the chilled water infrastructure that supports the Sun Cooling Door 5200. It may not require the purchase of additional back-end infrastructure, only piping to the existing systems.

Installation is easy because it can be installed in a data center's existing rack rows and it provides full accessibility to servicing Sun hardware inside the rack. The Sun Cooling Door 5200 must be installed by Sun service personnel. Enterprise Installation Service (EIS) is available for this product at an additional charge. The EIS allows customers to choose between have the systems installed during business hour or after hours.
