A Solaris Cluster environment helps in managing service levels and increasing availability to application deployments.

Solaris Cluster 3.1 and 3.2 not only supports Sun Blade X6240, both releases also are offered with Sun Fire X4170, X4270, and X4275, allowing all of these servers to be deployed in a Solaris Cluster environment. Solaris Cluster is a multi-system, multi-site disaster recovery solution that manages the availability of applications services and data across local, regional, and vastly dispersed datacenters.

Deployment in a Solaris Cluster environment helps in managing service levels and increasing availability to application deployments.

The Sun Fire X4170 server is an x64 server in a 1RU form factor that can power demanding mission-critical back office applications. The Sun Fire X4270 server is ideal for application virtualization or as a virtual desktop infrastructure server. The Sun Fire X4275 server is the best storage server in its class, Sun says, to drive the next near-line storage solution -- be it for digital media solutions or for data driven decision using data warehousing applications.

Together with Solaris Cluster, these three Sun Fire servers are ideal platforms for deploying new IT infrastructure which are highly available, reliable, performant and enabling delivery of higher service levels, at lower service level costs and reduced risk.

Details of support for the Sun Fire X4170, X4270, X4275 servers are as follows:

  • One agent entitlement per agent for the entire cluster.
